Pure Pantry Perfection

What makes a perfect pantry, you ask? Hm. In my humble opinion, it’s:

  1. Easy Access

  2. Light

  3. Organization, and

  4. The anticipation of eating the amazingness of what will be concocted from its contents.

That said, seeing the labels and ingredients, or perhaps even remembering the adventurous outing that brought that home-canned goodie or jar of jam into your pantry in the first place stirs the soul. And hence, the stomach. Leaving extra space underneath the bottom shelf plans ahead for the double-stacked cases of (fill-in-the-blank) or taller kitchen appliance storage. As always, a little bit of pre-planning goes a long way.

  • How tall are the bottles of olive oil you love?

  • How many cans will stack between shelves?

  • Do you want to hang baskets? The support system we chose for this pantry space will be ample strength for what will be stored here.

Being an unabashed fan of history, I like wood. Sturdy. Classic. Traditional. Painted, stained, trimmed, beveled, smooth, knotty - it speaks to me. Here are simple white shelves in a butter yellow pantry. The well-angled window brings in the right amount of light.

I feel inspired.
